Come join us the morning of Saturday June 24th at The Episcopal Academy for the 1st Annual Heroes Vs. Cancer 5k.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Coaches vs. Cancer program of The American Cancer Society. The goal of this event is to celebrate survivors, remember and honor those we have lost, and FIGHT BACK so that no one loses another family member, friend, or loved one to this disease. Cancer hits too close to home, for too many people, and on June 24th we will fight for everyone, in every community, and against every cancer.

All 5k participants will receive a race t-shirt!

The Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer School and Youth Initiative is a program designed to encourage student-athletes, coaches, fans, parents, athletic directors and local communities to become involved and make an impact in the fight against cancer.  From basketball courts to running track - any COMMUNITY MEMBER or BUSINESS can be a part of the Coaches vs. Cancer program. By getting involved in Coaches vs. Cancer you are supporting the American Cancer Society's mission to help people STAY WELL, GET WELL, FIND CURES, and FIGHT BACK RIGHT here in Philadelphia.

What is Coaches vs. Cancer and the American Cancer Society doing in YOUR community?

  • Current hospitals in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs are funded by over $15 million dollars in American Cancer Society (ACS) research grants.
  • Last year, more than 26,000 nights of free or reduced cost lodging were provided to a patient and their caregiver who had to travel to Philadelphia for treatment.
  • A Full-Time Patient Navigator at CHOP is fully funded by ACS to ensure patients and their families know where to turn after their child is diagnosed with cancer.
  • More than 30,000 rides to and from treatment for patients without a ride.
